| Look Here For Hints! | ||
Comments 1939 GM FUTURLINER - ONE OF ONLY 12 MADE, The Futurliner is 33’ long, 8’ wide, 11’-7" tall vehicle with a whopping 248" wheelbase. An unusual feature of the Futurliner is its dual (side by side) front wheels. Each wheel has its own set of brakes, brake drums and bearings. The driver's eyes are 10 feet above road level. He has a single seat which is located at the front center of the compartment. The driver's area is intended to feel like a cockpit similar to the fighter planes of the era. Behind him are twin relief seats for assistances or special guests. The compartment is kept at a comfortable temperature by a Frigidaire air conditioner similar to what was available on some 1953 GM passenger cars. The windshield curves almost completely around the compartment and was of green-tinted E-Z Eye glass. Futurliner windshields were the largest E-Z Eye installations ever made up until that time. Futurliners were equipped with the Guide Lamp Division's Autronic-Eye, which automatically lowered the headlight beams when another vehicle approached, then raises the lights again.
Power Steering was developed by the Saginaw Steering Gear Division. The steering wheel is mounted on a streamlined column at the front center of the compartment. Foot pedals for the brake and accelerator are treadle type with corrugated rubber treads, set off by chrome plates. There was no clutch. Transmissions are Dual-Range Hydra-Matic manufactured by the Detroit Transmission Division.
Each Futurliner was powered by a 145 horsepower, 302 cubic inch GMC gasoline engine, which is located directly under the driver's compartment. Compression ration is 7.3 to 1. Bore and stroke are each 4 inches. They produced 262 foot pounds of torque at 1,400 revolutions per minute. The engine is reached for servicing by a large door which is located at the left front of the vehicle. There are two gasoline tanks, each holding 45 gallons, located in front of the rear wheels.
Safety features include dual front wheels which increase roadability and safety rubber covered bumpers give the steel bumpers added protection and rubber rail runs around the base of the body.

| 1955 GMC Greyhound Sceniccruiser Motorcoach Bus Email Sales@BusesForSale.com |
| Look Here For Hints! | ||
Comments 1955 Greyhound Scenicruiser Motorcoach Bus.... The bus has a good body, minor dents and dings here and there. Nothing major, the worst is the driver's side baggage bay door. Replacement skins are available. This is an interesting coach, in that it has NONE of the reinforcement/repair plates that were installed on most Scenicruisers during the 1962 rebuilds. Apparently Greyhound felt #719 was holding up just fine, and it appears that is indeed correct. The glass is good, with the exception of the rear most side sash, which is just flat glass. The upper windshields are plexiglass, but are well done, I didn't even notice until after a few weeks. These buses have a huge following. Some enthusiasts, including myself, are reproducing parts for them. Glass is now available, so the upper windshields can now be replaced with correct glass pieces. Some small surface corrosion spots here and there, but nothing abnormal for a Scenicruiser. The suspension is in nice shape, the air beams are not rusty, the brakes appear to have plenty of lining left. The bus has one new tire, the rest are drivable, but should be replaced sometime in the future. The bus starts right up, airs up, and runs great. This bus is equipped with a Detroit Diesel 8v-92, 450 turbo engine, and a 10 speed manual transmission. Plenty of power! Personally, I'd probably put an automatic in the bus, as the shifter is very difficult to operate at best. The bus does need 2 things before it could be considered ready for a long trip. #1, the power steering cylinder is not the correct unit for the bus. I have the correct one for the bus, but haven't had a chance to install it yet. #2, the clutch cable needs to be lubricated. Common Scenicruiser problem. Most likely, I'll be able to repair both of these before the bus is picked up, but I cannot guarantee it. I will do my best. Aside from that, the bus is ready to drive. She starts right up, idles nice, etc.
The interior is very intact. All the seats are present. The seat foam is starting to get hard, from sitting for so long. The restroom is completely intact, and looks like it did in 1956. The previous owner ran this bus in commercial service well into the 1990's. The charter company had put roof top air conditioning units in the roof. These have been removed, and the holes covered over, but as you can see in the pictures, the interior panels still have holes where they came through. I'm not sure what interior lighting is functioning, I haven't checked it out.
While the bus needs complete restoration, this may be the last time you have the opportunity to purchase one. |

Comments This 1962 Setra S-6L Alpine tour bus was converted at the Kassbohrer factory in Germany. Includes almost all detail parts, taken off to prevent theft.
No engine; rear engine bay will take many large options. Manual steering, 5-speed ZF manual transaxle, air suspension, dually, advanced ultralight frame construction for on-road economy. Bath with shower, full kitchen and cabs. Needs complete restoration, including replacement of some body panels and interior details. Comes with or without rear motorcycle carrier. Overall about 25' long.
Not for the faint-hearted, but ultra-cool potential and truly unique. Kassbohrer built about 1,200 S6s between 1954 and '63, and my sources say only of the stretched S-6Ls. As far as I've been able to discover this is the only one of its kind left. Interior The previous owner rebuilt the interior to marine specs, largely in teak. Restoration begun and abandoned years ago. Full kitchen includes oven and fridge compartment. Small 3/4 bath. Sofa folds out to full-size bed. Four-place dining area in rear dome. |

Comments 1940 Greyhound, Silversides, Yellowcoach, PDG3701153, #153, 37 passenger bus as displayed in the 1939-1940 N.Y. World's Fair. One of a kind bus...I have not been able to find another one anywhere. It has a 671 Detroit Diesel and is converted to a motor home in dark mahogany wood in a Nautical Motif, with all accessories, with a 4-speed gearbox on the column and roll up windows. Engine runs clean. The undercarriage is solid. This bus is 33 feet long because in most places that was the legal limit at that time. The later versions in 1941 and post war in 1947 were 35 feet. It's a real classic and a rare find, a Gem of the Golden Era, one of the few - if not the only one remaining. Features Fully converted to motorhome, Kohler generator, propane tank, dark mahogany wood. |

Comments Roger Penske's Personal, Original, Historic and Rare 40' Newell Motorcoach...... Designed by Larry Shinoda (also Corvette Singray and Boss Ford Mustang.......
"The Captain", Roger Penske's Original, Personal Motor Coach from 1986 through 1992...... The Newell was simply the finest motor coach of it's time.... During the era Mr. Penske owned this very motor coach no telling how many Indy 500 and Indy Series Champions graced Mr. Penske's private quarters in the aft meeting room. Among those were Indy 500 winners Al Unser Sr., Rick Mears and Emerson Fittipaldi.
During the build of this Newell, Mr. Penske also commissioned famed automotive designer Larry Shinoda to pen the one of a kind exterior of the coach and team transporter. Shinoda is most known for designing the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Ford Boss Mustang, among many other. His designs on this coach include the rear wheel spats, the front wheel alloy covers, the roof cap, stainless steel side panels, front and rear bumpers, head light design, the exterior paint design and luminescent graphics surrounding the coach, from which Mr. Penske utilizes on his current Newell Motor Coach today. Copies of Shinoda penned designs for this coach are included with the sale.
This Newell is no standard coach from Newell. It incorporates a 102" width, 40' length, 275" wheel base. It has a massive air bag ride and leveling system, which Mr. Penske had drawn up for this coach. Those blue prints are also included with the sale.
Some of the many options Mr. Penske requested are: Recaro leather seating, three main a/c units, four heating units, cornering lights, extra engine heater, 5 KW inverter, 50 amp vanner charger, Sony closed circuit tvs, mobile telephones and intercom systems, burglar alarm system, yard lights, central vacumn, ice maker, instant hot water, corian counter tops throughout, Sony Watchcam and much, much more.
The Newell is equipped with the following
Custom bridge construction, 8V92TA Detroit Deisel (475hp), Jacobs brake, glow plugs, Kim stat, air dryer, fuel/water separator, HT740 Allision 4-speed transmission, 12KW Kohler generator (recent new main generating alternator), Koni shock absorbers, full air ride, air brakes, w/failsafe parking brake, seperate engine starting batteries, cruise control, trailer hitch (can pull stacker easily), 49 gal LP tank, Mansfield plumbing fixtures, three burner cook top, shoreline/main transfer switch, tilt/ telescope steering wheel, power steering, refridgerator/freezer, water heater (elec,/engine exchange), 217 gal fuel tank, 55 gal auxillary fuel tank, 118 gal water supply tank, 118 gal holding tank (w/sight guage), heated rear view mirrors, halogen lights, fog lights, 70 amp converter/charger, two 4.2 gpm water pumps, water filters, two color Sony tvs, cb radio, am/fm cassette, time temperature indicator, microwave/convection oven, air horns, full instrumentation, generator buddy plug, air powered windshield wipers, yard lighting, pyrometer/boost guage, defrost fans, insulated 2" sandwich flooring. full viewing platform on the roof, with stainless railing and ladder, flag pole, satelite system, easy access to breakers and fusses, drivers seat accessable coach leveling and gererator operation, full 102" basement storage compartment. Many more incredible features.
This Newell motor coach runs wonderfully (very powerful!), 208,621 original miles. It shifts and brakes properly (brakes on rear replaced recently) (new ring and pinion). The tires are in fine shape, some of which are nearly new. The three main ac units as well as the heating units work properly. The water heater heats as it should. The water system works properly, Refridgerator/freezer work fine, as do the microwave, TVs and radios. Each of the three main leather couches pull out to make double beds. It is possible to sleep eight, however, five would be more comfortable. The 12KW generator is well insulated, therefore it is quite and works well. There is a rear mounted camera for backing up. The radiator is new and cools the engine great.
Even though the coach has been well maintained there are a few items that need attention: There are water leaks around a couple of windows. There is some rust on the battery trays a front compartment where the outside refridgerator is located. There is a soft spot in the powder room floor. The dashboard ac unit is not working. There are some scratches and paint chips in the body. There are two small areas of the lower aluminum body work that have bubbled and need minor repair. |

Modern front axle (Ford) with modern self-adjusting brakes and matching five hole Bud wheel pattern. The coach has tilt steering wheel, power steering and hydra-boost power brakes. Dual fuel tanks. Comments 1979 Bristol Double-Decker bus originally from Bristol, England. Bus is used for a Kids Entertaining and Fitness Business. Fully Equipped Mobile self contained. This is a very unique vehicle. The bus is mechanically sound and it is a daily driver. The generator was changed and there is an extra one; the tires are in excellent condition; new brake pads; new gas pump; tinted windows and new air tank. It was completely converted inside to provide a fully operational kids playground on the first floor, complete with ball pit, slide, cargo net, swing rollers and other toys. The second floor was converted into a sport’s field, with soccer lines on the floor, it is used for yoga; gymnastics, and for dancing. The bus is equipped with (4) 1400 BTU portable A/C units, that are serviced by a 15000 Guardian Generator, which was professionally installed on a base and a security cage was constructed and installed on the back of the bus. The generator can work and keep the A/C units on while driving. There are also 5 fans that maintain the air circulating. There are neon lights; bubble machine, AM/FM CD Radio for the kids parties. The bus also has 2 exhaust solar fans on the roof of the upper floor to maintain the bus ventilation. It is self-advertising, as the entire bus was fully vinyl wrapped with a professional job and a unique design, which creates the illusion of three floors from the outside. The bus is fully operational and has a top speed of 45 MPH. The bus was already converted to a Florida Motor Home, which helps the owner with the insurance and with the type of driver’s license |

Comments 1974 GMC Coach Conversion Bus. Former city bus in very good shape, with a mostly aluminum body and enough beds and living space for six people (four single beds and one double). Very roomy. There are less than 500 miles on a completely rebuilt (for $8,500) supercharged Detroit Diesel engine that runs like new. Rebuild service records are available.
The odometer reads 118,000 miles.
The bus has electrical, sewer and water hookups, fresh and blackwater tanks, big water heater, as well as a gas-powered range, furnace and refrigerator, shower, bathroom facilities and an extra sink in the \"master bedroom\" area.
It runs and drives great with a supercharged engine and Allison hydrostatic automatic transmission. The motor and the gearing have also been converted for highway travel and it cruises nicely.
In the front, there are two \"diner-style\" tables with booth seats made from the bench seats of the original bus.
There is lettering on the side and back, including a custom decal that says, \"Let\'s Just Praise the Lord\", probably from the Mennonite family that owned it previously.
The bus is in very good shape all-around, but has a small leak around the top of one of the windows where the rubber is old and in need of replacement. Other than that, the bus appears to be watertight.
There are spots of surface rust around some of the windows.
The engine compartment hood is slightly dented but only noticeable when opening and closing the engine compartment.
There is a crack in one of the side windows.
Sale is as-is, where is. |

8V-71 Detroit Diesel engine.
VS2-8 three speed Allison automatic transmission.
Top road speed is approximately 70 mph.
The engine of 810 smokes a bit, mostly upon start up, and there is minor leakage from the air-box drains. This indicates a middle aged engine. Oil pressure is normal. The batteries are not old, and have seen only light service.
The body is tight and straight, and no expensive body work is needed. A new paint job would be nice. The interior is good – floors, step treads, sidewalls, and ceiling panels are good. The seats are in good operating condition – every recliner works – but the cloth fabric is rotten while the vinyl portions are in surprisingly good shape. Front tires are good and fairly new, and the rear tires are good, but old. |
